Business Author Toby Mathis Releases New Book, ’12 Steps to Running a Successful Business’

September 22nd, 2010

Toby Mathis, President of BOSS Business Services in Las Vegas, has announced the publication of his most recent book, “12 Steps to Running a Successful Business.” Last year, Mathis offered a free preview chapter “Boss – 4 Universal Rules for Business Success”, making it available for free via the BOSS Business Services’ website (http://www.BossOffice.com) – an offer taken advantage of by hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners. “The 4 Rules are still in there, but we have added 3 Core Concepts and 5 Marketing Maxims to give readers a total of 12 steps to follow,” added Mathis, who is no stranger to business success, having guided BOSS Business Services to successive Inc. 5000 honors in 2008 and 2009.

“The first Core Concept is to talk with other successful people,” explained Mathis. “Why would you listen to someone who has no idea what you are attempting to accomplish or what you are doing? If you want to run a successful business, talk to those people who have run the type of business you hope to run – don’t take the advice of friends, family, accountants or lawyers who simply do not have the experience to help.”

“12 Steps to Running a Successful Business” is dedicated to helping business people make intelligent decisions by giving them a “logic sieve” through which to run questions. One of the 3 Core Concepts in the book is to engage in critical thinking whereby bad decisions can be avoided. Mathis should know a thing or two about critical thinking, having been a lawyer for 13 years. “In law school, you are taught to think like a lawyer – meaning you learn to spot issues and analyze facts in an organized manner to arrive at a supportable conclusion,” Mathis explained. “Business is no different – if you put facts through a process, a ‘logic sieve,’ you will reach better conclusions and avoid costly errors.”

“12 Steps to Running a Successful Business” includes other topics such as “Company Morality” and “10,000-Foot View” market analysis, emphasizing that business is about much more than money.
