This is a great story illustrating the dilemma for Congress when it comes to the estate tax. Dan L. Duncan was billion who passed away this spring. Instead of paying 45% or 55% (had he passed away in 2009 or 2011) in estate taxes, the rate is 0%.

I am adding this link to an article on one of the more costly features of the new healthcare bill.
Section 9006 of the health care bill — just a few lines buried in the 2,409-page document — mandates that beginning in 2012 all companies will have to issue 1099 tax forms not just to contract workers but to any individual or corporation from which they buy more than $600 in goods or services in a tax year.
This is going to add a tremendous expense to many businesses (the current law requires that you 1099 independant contractors who you pay over $600 during the year and exempts businesses) as they will be required to 1099 ANYONE who you pay more than $600. Buy a new computer – issue the company a 1099. Buy office supllies – issue them a 1099.

Sure you did – the credit is supposed to help small companies with under 25 employees afford health care coverage under the new act.
But wait…with every law, there is fine print. In this case, the proclaimed credit drops off sharply once a small business exceeds 10 workers and $25,000 in average annual wages.
